Portfoliorama

Why is it that this writing thing just keeps getting harder the more I'm supposedly learning about it?  Especially as it pertains to "literary analysis?"  Urgh!  Sorry, I just needed to get that out.

Back to this class - I think I'd like to focus on the two longer pieces for my portfolio.  Call me a glutton for punishment, but I believe I'll have a lot more to work with on both of those.  I'm sure I could also do a lot with the news brief, but that was probably the least interesting of the three (as far as the writing process goes).  SO, the profile piece was what I thought was my best work, which is why I'd like to get in there and make it better.  I think I could really turn that into something I could be proud of.  The feature was a piece I honestly just ran out of time on, so I'd like to be able to spend another day or two revising with the help of Doug's comments.  I couldn't get my main interview guy on the phone until Monday morning,, which left me all of about two days to get the draft over...which was still hopelessly late!  I think that's the piece with the most potential for editing, so I can't wait to dive back into that.

I think I need to work on flow and transitions (which could be similar things?) on both of these pieces.  And, of course, being more concise, which I maybe, might, sorta sometimes kinda have trouble with sometimes maybe.

  1. I chose the same, so if you're a glutton, I'm there with you! I feel your pain with the feature and understand your desire to work out those difficulties. My first impulse was to trash mine, but my inner glutton got the best of me. It's like a heavy snowfall on the peak of a mountain of stress. There is no easy way out for those that love their art! Good luck, I know you'll do awesome!

  2. I enjoyed them all, but found like you and Kelly, the last two were the most interesting to me. I felt that I was more 'knee-deep' into the research and interview that went along with them. The SNB was interesting, but since I missed the mark, I will just let that one go...
